Welcome To Stones In The Sand Garden

Welcome-

In the Japanese Zen garden beautifully raked sand and carefully selected and placed stones and objects create a peaceful place for quiet meditation.
Creating a personal shrine or altar is in many ways just like that process. Selecting objects that have meaning to you and assembling them in a manner that pleases you. A personal shrine can fit in your pocket, hang on your wall, sit on a table, be permanent or temporary, and can be created inside or outside.

Published In ART DOLL!!!!!

It's been a long and very Hot summer here in the desert, and honestly I've been distracted from my art work with other projects and just keeping cool.  But this morning via email I was over joyed to find that my metal doll had been included in the Fall addition of ART DOLL.  HOORAY, I love all of the Sumerset Magazines and this is the second time that I have been lucky enough to be honored and included with so many other fine artists!  Of course living an hour out of town I will have to try to make a special trip to find it and see it.

Finding Time

Finding time to be creative.....It should be a priority but somehow that time gets so easily funneled into other areas the require attention. A newly diagnosed diabetic dog, spending time with of my incredible grandchildren, restoring a vintage airstream trailer and last but not least my new,low paid and somewhat boring job. My one wish right now is that I could figure out a way to make money and do something I really like. I guess we all dream about that.

This is the month to honor all Mothers and my thoughts are turning to a new shrine\altar for Mary. I love the sacred heart images of Mary in my collection and finding time to be creative is definitely moving up on my priority list.

Beach Box

I love these little cedar tourists boxes that turn up in thrift stores and garage sales and they are often my choice for a project. This is a personal celebration shrine for my love of travel and the beach's I've enjoyed. Each little vial contains sand collected while visiting that beach.

A Wild Shrine

This outdoor shrine overlooks the Virgin River Valley from the North edge of the Mormon Mesa. I don't know who created this but when my husband and I stumbled upon it we really enjoyed the "coochism" message and the view, you'll notice in the front that the creator of this shrine included a place to sit or kneel while visiting this place.

Inspiration

Inspiration

Finding inspiration always seems so much easier then seeking inspiration. While I wonder around any place (even my yard) it's hard for me NOT to pick up twigs, pieces of wind blown wood, small stones, shells etc. I'm sure I learned that from my Mom, I remember us gathering dried weeds, stones and shells on road trips and I know I've passed it on to my wonderful daughters and grandchildren, they are all gatherers too.
